.CYMRU & .WALES are Almost Here!

Posted 17th February, 2015 by Aliysa

The world of domain names is changing fast: hundreds of new extensions (gTLDs) have launched over the last few months and there are plenty more to come, including eagerly awaited extensions for regions that dont yet have their own domain extension. The launch of .SCOT and .CHINA last year was a huge success, with tens of thousands of website owners snapping up a more targeted domain name for their shop, blog or business website. Now it's Wales' turn to get a piece of the action, with the launch of two dedicated Welsh extensions on the 1st March: .CYMRU and .WALES!

These new extensions give Welsh webmasters the chance to secure a short and snappy domain name, which strongly resonates with their local audience, and wouldn't be available as a .COM or .CO.UK extension.

Several established Welsh organisations such as the National Assembly and S4C have already made the switch to using these new domains, whilst other groups like the Scarlets rugby club have also announced their intention to do so in the future.

With over 2.5 million internet users and 300,000 businesses based in Wales we're expecting these domains to be highly sought after. Don't miss out on your chance to own your perfect domain: pre-register your interest with us today and we'll handle the whole process for you, the second these domains launch to the public on 1st March.

Pre-order Your .CYMRU/ .WALES Domain

There's no application fee for pre-registering a .CYMRU or .WALES domain name with us. Once you've placed your order we'll email you asking you to pre-authorise payment of 1 year's registration of just £9.95. Once pre-authorisation is given, we’ll do everything we can to register your pre-ordered name when the domains go live on 1st March. We will only charge your card if we’re able to successfully secure your domain name: if we aren’t, your card will not be charged.
