Nominet Data Quality Improvement Programme

Posted 30th September, 2014 by Dan

As an Accredited Channel Partner, we have greater flexibility to help you better manage your domains such as performing free Registrant Transfers.

With great power, also comes great responsibility and as an Accredited Channel Partner we are also obligated to ensure that the data - That’s your Registrant name and Address details - are accurate and of a high-quality.

Nominet regularly checks data and flags any details which they can’t validate - this is where we come in.

Once Nominet has flagged something as invalid, we’re sent a notification and we then raise a “Data Quality Case” and then send the account holder an email with details on how they can correct the invalid data.

Often it’s simple things which cause issues, like having your registrant name using an initial like “J. Smith” instead of your full name, or a company where the registrant name doesn’t include the company type e.g. “Acme” instead of “Acme Ltd”.

Sometimes, Nominet’s systems may flag names or addresses incorrectly, in these cases we’ll need to verify the details by asking you to submit documentation such as a utility bill or a photo of your driving license so that we can manually verify these cases. In this case you will be provided with the option to raise a ticket with our compliance team, who will work with you to verify your details.

If you receive one of these emails, you have 30 days to submit the correct information, if we do not receive the correct details within 30 days we are required to suspend the domain name until the correct details are submitted. This will stop the website, email and any other associated services from functioning.

If you have any questions regarding the ‘Data Quality’ collection please do not hesitate to contact our support team.
