Tsohost is now an ICANN Accredited Registrar

Posted 24th July, 2014 by Dan

It’s been a long process but we’re proud to announce we’re now an ICANN Accredited registrar, this means we’re able to better serve our customers by working directly with the registries for the most popular domain extensions.

.ORG, .INFO and .BIZ domains have been using our accreditation for a little over a month now, and we are now live for .COM and .NET since Wednesday (23rd July ‘14).

It’s a very exciting time for us, and we have some big plans for kicking things off with a bang with some amazing promotions coming very soon.

Who are ICANN?

For those not familiar with the domain industry might be wondering who ICANN are and why we needed to be “ICANN Accredited” in order to take this next step forward.

ICANN is the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, through the multi-stakeholder model they manage the allocation of domains names like .COFFEE or .UK into the root of the internet.

They also oversee the policy development which affects how you can manage your domain names and set the rules, and requirements which registries and registrars must follow when providing domain services to registrants.

You can read more about who ICANN are ontheir website.

What does ICANN Accreditation mean for you?

ICANN Accreditation involves various checks to ensure that we are in good financial health, that we have the technical ability to manage hundreds of thousands of domains and that we have the processes in place to ensure that should the worst happen, your domains will always be safe.

ICANN regularly checks and monitors registrars to ensure that we are following the policy and providing the correct standard of service, this includes audits of our systems and data to ensure it continues to be compliant.

Because we are ICANN Accredited this means we are authorised to deal directly with registries such as Verisign who power .COM and .NET domains.

If you have any questions about our new accreditation you can leave them in the comment box below or tweet us @tsohost.
