If you exceed your bandwidth allowance, your cPanel account will be suspended. You will receive an email notification when nearing your accounts bandwidth limit. An email when you reach 80%, 90% and 95% of your allowance.
On our Cloud hosting packages we do not suspend accounts for exceeding bandwidth, and on virtual servers the limits are set much higher than your allowance in order to prevent suspension. However, on cPanel your account will show a ‘Bandwidth Limit Exceeded’ warning.
When we send you a warning that you are approaching your bandwidth allowance, you can see where your usage lies by logging into cPanel. There are two tools you can use.
First, ‘bandwidth usage’ will show you where the high usage has come from. This may be http (web) traffic, as a result of many people visiting your site. It may be IMAP usage, which means email traffic. It could be that you have downloaded all your emails to a new computer, perhaps? Usually it will be the former.
To work out where your traffic is, you can then go into a web statistics software, Awstats
Click that, then choose this month. You can see previous months if you want.
On this screen you will see more analysis of your traffic, the most frequent visitors and the most frequently hit pages.
If you exceed your bandwidth it usually means you need to upgrade to the next hosting package.
